The annual New Mexico Shakespeare Festival kicks off 2025 with a staging of Willy the Shake’s obscure Roman war drama Coriolanus. The play promises to be “physical, immediate and alive with rhythm.” According to the festival, the cast for Coriolanus creates a “live soundscape” throughout using sticks, poles and objects built into the set itself — effectively transforming the stage into a “living, breathing instrument.” This percussive event takes place at North Fourth Art Center (4904 Fourth St. NW) this Thursday, Oct. 16 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 general admission and $22 for students/seniors/military. You can reserve them up in advance at tickettailor.com/events/newmexicoshakespearefestival/1726326. The play continues Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. through Oct. 26.
