Roosevelt Middle School, A. Montoya Elementary School and San Antonio STEM Elementary School will host the East Mountain Extravaganza, a free community health and wellness event, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at Roosevelt Middle School, 11799 State Highway 14 S.
The event will feature free health services, including a vaccination clinic provided by Albertson’s Pharmacy, sports physicals from Blooming Cactus Wellness, dental screenings and fluoride treatments from the New Mexico Department of Health’s dental program, and a blood donation drive through Vitalant.
Albertson’s Pharmacy will administer COVID-19 and flu vaccines, scheduled pediatric vaccines, shingles and pneumococcal vaccines. Attendees should bring proof of insurance and are encouraged to complete consent forms in advance to expedite the process.
Athletes can receive free sports physicals with completed New Mexico Activities Association forms. The Bernalillo County Fire Department will offer hands-only CPR training, while healthcare providers, including Lovelace and Turquoise Trail Counseling, will provide information about their services.
Entertainment and activities will include live music, performances by East Mountain Dance, a National Guard obstacle course, demonstrations by local martial arts schools, and food trucks. The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office will also participate.
Representatives will be available to assist with Medicaid and SNAP enrollment. The schools’ Parent Association with Student Success program will conduct a donation drive collecting clothes, shoes, backpacks, linens and pillows.
