The Moriarty Community Library will celebrate the Moon Festival on Saturday, Oct. 4, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event will feature moon pies, crafts and storytelling about lunar legends, according to promotional materials from New Mexico State University’s College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences Cooperative Extension Service.

The Moon Festival, also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival, is traditionally celebrated in many Asian cultures to honor the full moon and celebrate the harvest season.

The library event is part of NMSU’s Extension 4-H Youth Development programming. Activities are designed to educate participants about cultural traditions while providing hands-on learning opportunities.

The celebration is open to the public.
