Manahatta (Fri./3 Performance)

Manahatta is a play by well-known Native American attorney/playwrite Mary Kathryn Nagel and tells the story of the Lenape people’s forced displacement from their homeland, now known as Manhattan. It intertwines their 17th-century history with the contemporary experiences of a young Lenape woman returning to the city. Albuquerque Little Theatre (224 San Pasquale Ave. SW) presents this historic drama starting Friday, Oct. 3 at 7:30 p.m. The play continues Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. through Oct. 19. There will be a special 2 p.m. matinee on Oct. 11 and an additional 7:30 p.m. performance on Oct. 16. Tickets are $39.30 for adults, $35.70 for seniors and students and $33.89 for active military. D.L. Hughley (Fri./3, Comedy)

Back in the day, D.L. Hughley was known as one of the Original Kings of Comedy. Since then, he’s gone on to become an author, a radio show host, a late night talk show host and the star of an eponymous sitcom on ABC and UPN. Now he’s touring as part of the Comedy Get Down Tour, which features D.L. along with Cedric the Entertainer, George Lopez, and Eddie Griffin. He takes a detour from that to headline a solo stand-up show at Quezada’s Comedy Club & Cantina (54 Jemez Canyon Dam Rd.) inside the Santa Ana Star Casino. He goes on stage Friday, Oct. 3 at 7 and 9:30 p.m. and returns Saturday, Oct. 4 at 7 and 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $65.47 for premium admission and $54.13 for standard admission. 2025 American Indian Arts Festival (Sat./4, Festival)
As part of its Balloon Fiesta Week celebrations, the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center (2401 12th St. NW) presents the annual American Indian Arts Festival. Starting Saturday, Oct. 4 the festival will welcome more than 50 authentic, all-Native American artists and craftspeople. Meet, talk with and shop directly from Native artists. This two-day festival also includes cultural dances and art demonstrations. The festival runs Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Entrance is free for museum members or with purchase of an admission ticket to the Cultural Center. (Those run you $12 adults, $10 New Mexico residents and military or $8 seniors/teachers/students – and you get to check out all the current exhibits at IPCC as well.)
