The Town of Edgewood will host two back-to-back community events Saturday, Sept. 20, at Venus Park, combining the state’s largest pet adoption event with the debut of a new summer festival.

Woofstock, described by town officials as New Mexico’s largest pet adoption event, will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and feature 15 adoption agencies and rescue organizations, according to a town press release.

The daytime event will include on-site pet adoptions, a microchipping booth, pet supply vendors, live music and food trucks. Don Davis from East Mountain Radio will serve as emcee, announcing prize winners and adoptions throughout the day, the town said.

Following Woofstock, the new Summer Fest will begin at 5 p.m. and continue through 9 p.m. at the same location. The evening celebration will feature food trucks, a beer garden hosted by Junos Edgewood, craft vendors, lawn games and family activities, according to the release.

The musical act Casino Queen will perform at the pavilion during Summer Fest, town officials said.

Both events will take place at Venus Park, located 1½ miles north of Interstate 40 on New Mexico Highway 344. Admission is free for both events, the town announced.
