Residents in Edgewood, Madrid and the rest of Santa Fe County can receive discounted Uber rides during Labor Day weekend through a tri-county program aimed at preventing impaired driving incidents.

The “Take A Ride On Us” campaign offers up to $10 credit per trip for a maximum of two rides from 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, through 2 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2. Participants must enter promotional code NMLD25 in the Uber app’s voucher section.

Santa Fe County DWI programs are among the key partners supporting the initiative, which extends to Bernalillo and Sandoval county residents as well. The regional effort provides 2,500 total discounted trips across all three counties.

“Rather than drive under the influence,” promotional materials encourage residents to use the ride-sharing alternative during holiday celebrations.

The discount covers transportation only and excludes Uber Eats food delivery orders. Tips are not included in the promotional credit, and rides are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Program collaborators include Cumulus Radio, Bernalillo County, Brown County of New Mexico, Central Valley DWI, Sandler-Weller Personal Injury Lawyers and Sandia Resort & Casino.

The multi-jurisdictional approach reflects growing recognition among local governments that impaired driving poses regional risks during holiday periods, when alcohol-related traffic fatalities traditionally spike.

Santa Fe County residents must add the voucher code before requesting rides to access the promotional pricing. The program aims to provide accessible alternatives to driving under the influence during the extended holiday weekend.
