The Estancia Rotary Club will host its 29th annual Punkin’ Chunkin’ event on Oct. 11, featuring giant compressed air cannons launching pumpkins for distance.
The fundraising event benefits the club’s scholarship program, according to organizers. Participants use large pneumatic cannons to launch pumpkins across an open field, with each cannon painting their pumpkins different colors to help measure distances accurately.
The event has become a popular annual tradition for the community, combining engineering creativity with charitable fundraising. Teams compete to see whose pumpkin travels the farthest distance when fired from the specialized cannons.
Proceeds from the Punkin’ Chunkin’ support scholarships for local students. The Estancia Rotary Club has organized the event for nearly three decades as part of its community service mission.
Additional details about registration, participation requirements and event logistics are available through the Estancia Rotary Club. The event is open to spectators and participants.
