The New Mexico 4-H program is now accepting enrollment for its new program year beginning Oct. 1, offering youth participants access to more than 200 different projects and instructor-led programs.
The youth development organization, administered through New Mexico State University’s Torrance County Cooperative Extension Service, provides opportunities in shooting sports, food and nutrition, fiber arts, livestock and small animals, welding, ceramics, and arts and crafts, according to program materials.
“Now is a great time to check out our program,” said Torrance County Cooperative Extension Service Office representatives in enrollment materials distributed this month.
Interested families can find information about available programs and locate their nearest Extension office by visiting the program’s website at nm4h.nmsu.edu.
The organization encourages the public to view 4-H exhibits currently on display at the New Mexico State Fair to learn more about youth projects and activities.
For enrollment information in Torrance County, residents may contact the local Cooperative Extension Service Office at 505-544-4333 or email torrance@nmsu.edu.
Individuals with disabilities who need auxiliary aid or services to participate may contact Debby Maberry in advance at 505-544-4334 or maberryd@nmsu.edu, according to program information.
The 4-H program is part of NMSU’s College of ACES (Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences).
