The City of Moriarty will discuss its future budget and the appointment of a new clerk during back-to-back meetings on Aug. 27.
The council will host a special meeting starting at 5 p.m. about the city’s budget, followed by a city council meeting at 7:30 p.m., to appoint a new City Clerk/Treasurer during a closed-door session.
The special meeting will include a “financial analysis update” presented by Moriarty’s financial analysts and auditor. New financial policies and procedures will be proposed as well.
The council also plans to present its “Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Budget Updates,” which will explain the city’s financial plans and spending allocations.
Moriarty Mayor Brandon Webb, alongside the council, will discuss the appointment of Moriarty Financial Analyst Emily Sanchez to the position of City Clerk/Treasurer during a closed-door session at the beginning of the city council meeting.
The closed session comes after former Moriarty City Clerk/Treasurer Deborah Liu resigned and accused Moriarty of government corruption.
