The Town of Edgewood is warning residents about fraudulent emails claiming to conduct surveys about the community, officials said.

A resident reported receiving an email from someone purporting to conduct a survey on Edgewood, according to a public notice issued by the town.

“Be advised the Town of Edgewood is not conducting any surveys or working with any survey company at this time,” the notice stated.

Residents who receive suspicious emails or phone calls claiming to be affiliated with town surveys should report them to the New Mexico Department of Justice. Reports can be made by calling (505) 490-4060 or online at https://nmdoj.gov/get-help/scam-prevention-and-identity-theft.

The warning comes as scammers increasingly target local communities with fake surveys and questionnaires designed to collect personal information or defraud residents.

Town officials advised residents to verify the legitimacy of any communications claiming to represent Edgewood by contacting the town directly rather than responding to unsolicited emails or calls.
