East Mountains families preparing for the upcoming school year can get free basic school supplies for their children at a community giveaway this weekend.
Vista Grande Church will distribute backpacks filled with school supplies on Sunday, Aug. 3, at 12:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church Tijeras, located at 11820 NM-337 in Tijeras. The supplies are available for students from kindergarten through high school seniors while supplies last, according to the church’s social media announcement.
Vista Grande Church began as a church plant of First Baptist Church Tijeras in 1999 and currently meets at the Tijeras location while developing its facility to serve the East Mountains community. The church encourages community members who wish to support the effort by donating funds or volunteering to contact the church office at 505-281-3342 or by stopping by the building.
Families planning to attend should prepare to pick up supplies for their children at the designated time, as distribution will continue only while supplies last.
