Looking for an engaging and educational activity for the kids this summer?
The Albuquerque Police Department’s museum is now open for summer tours, offering families, youth groups and curious young minds a unique opportunity to delve into the history of law enforcement in the city.
Located on the first floor of APD Main at 400 Roma, directly across from City Hall, the museum provides an insightful look into how policing in Albuquerque has evolved over the decades. Visitors can discover historic uniforms, old patrol cars, vintage equipment, and learn about the individuals and events that have shaped the department.
The museum is dedicated in memory of former Police Chief Paul A. Shaver, who served from 1948 to 1971, leading the department through a significant period of growth and modernization. According to APD, his leadership established many of the foundational systems and practices still in use today.
Tours are available Monday through Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. To schedule a visit, email stgriego@cabq.gov.
