The Edgewood Town Commission will hold its next regular meeting on June 24, with key decisions on town services and public safety on the agenda.

Commissioners are expected to hold discussions on the proposed Solid Waste and Water Utility ordinances.

The Solid Waste Ordinance aims to establish clear guidelines for trash service, including mandatory participation, contractor coordination and enforcement.

Town officials say the goal is to address ongoing issues such as illegal dumping and inconsistent service.

The Water Utility Ordinance outlines how the town manages its water systems, including usage policies, billing procedures and plans for future expansion.

Both ordinances are part of a broader effort to prepare for growth and protect local water resources.

Also up for discussion is a resolution that would declare extreme or severe drought conditions in Edgewood and ban the sale and use of certain fireworks.

The proposed ban targets aerial spinners, missile-type rockets and other high-risk fireworks to reduce wildfire danger during the dry season.

If passed, the resolution would align Edgewood with statewide fire safety guidelines.

The commission will also consider a resolution authorizing the town to enter into a road funding grant agreement with the New Mexico Department of Transportation.

If approved, the grant would help cover the cost of critical road improvements.

Additional agenda items include possible updates to the Animal Control Ordinance, scheduling of budget workshops and early planning for a future civic center.

The public meeting begins at 6 p.m. at Edgewood Town Hall, 171A NM-344. Residents are encouraged to attend in person or watch the livestream on the town’s YouTube channel

Public comments will be accepted at the start of the meeting.
