The Underpants

Comedian and actor Steve Martin penned this adaptation of a classic 1910 German farce about a bourgeois couple whose lives are turned upside down by scandal and chaos after the wife’s bloomers fall down in public. The Underpants opens at Adobe Theater (9313 Fourth St. NW) on Friday, June 13 at 7:30 p.m. The play continues Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. until June 29. Tickets (available at adobetheater.org/tickets) are $26 general admission or $17 student admission. Thursday performances are only $10!

Movies in the Park

Bernalillo County and the City of Albuquerque return with another summer of free family movies outdoors under the stars in parks around the city. This Friday, June 13 you and the fam can watch the Disney/Pixar animated feature Coco at Kirtland Park (1408-1572 San Jose Ave SE). The story concerns a young Mexican musician who embarks on a musical adventure into the Land of the Dead. More movies show up every Friday night through July 25. So grab a blanket and some popcorn and enjoy! All films start at dusk (sometime around 8:15 p.m.). Admission is free. Poppins: A Theatrical Fusion Belly Dance Adventure

Desert Darlings, Albuquerque’s premiere belly dance troupe, has given a hip-shaking twist to a theatrical favorite. The stage musical Mary Poppins gets a dance-centric update with Poppins: A Theatrical Fusion Belly Dance Adventure. On Friday and Saturday, June 13 and 14, stating at 7 p.m., you can catch superstars dancers Zoe Jakes and Pixie Fordtears of Beats Antique in this fantastical stage story at the South Broadway Cultural Center (1025 Broadway Blvd. SE). Tickets (available in advance at artsandculture.cabq.gov/9006/9007) are $35 for adults and $20 for children ages 5 to 12.
