State Rep. Alan Martinez (R-Sandoval) has invited New Mexico Department of Transportation Secretary Ricky Serna to a community town hall to address safety concerns along NM 528 near the Pasilla/Riversedge corridor.
The town hall is scheduled for Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 6:00 PM at the Church of the Incarnation, located at 2309 Monterrey Road NE in Rio Rancho.
“My constituents are deeply concerned for their safety and the safety of all motorists who travel this corridor,” Martinez said. “It’s time for a fresh look at what can be done to make NM 528 safer. This town hall is an opportunity for myself, community leaders and Secretary Serna to hear directly from the community and offer insight into potential solutions.”
The discussion will focus on identifying safety improvements and seeking transparency from state officials. This comes amid growing concerns over increasing traffic accidents on NM 528, including a fatal accident in October 2024. Despite a 2017 NMDOT study concluding that no additional safety measures were needed, Rep. Martinez believes it is time for a reevaluation.
The public is encouraged to attend and participate.
