In March, President Donald Trump’s administration unexpectedly published a list of over 400 federal properties to be sold through “accelerated disposal” and fifteen New Mexico properties, including facilities servicing a nuclear waste disposal site in Carlsbad and the Dennis Chavez Federal Building housing the Downtown Albuquerque post office, were included.
Now that list is down to two.
For those interested in buying a Santa Fe parking lot or an Albuquerque warehouse, the federal government is ready to make a deal.
New Mexico sites now offered by GSA for disposal:
- A GSA motor pool site (aka parking lot) at 2500 Cerrillos Rd in Santa Fe
- A 76,000 square foot “warehouse depot” on 12th Street NW near I-40 in Albuquerque
Neither site was included in the original 15 published by DOGE and GSA in March which GSA later said needed further review. That initial list also included the Washington, D.C. headquarters of the U.S. Department of Justice and Housing and Urban Development. Neither those sites nor any of the original 15 locations listed for sale in New Mexico are currently on the disposal list. See the full GSA property disposal list online.
