A national procession honoring fallen emergency medical services professionals will make a stop in Albuquerque on Wednesday.

The Moving Honors procession, organized by the National EMS Memorial Service, will pause at the Bernalillo County Public Safety Training Academy to remember 29 EMS providers from across the country who died in the line of duty.

The annual procession began June 1 in Riverside, California, and will travel 6,500 miles across 19 states before culminating in Arlington, Virginia, on July 19. The Albuquerque event, hosted by American Medical Response in collaboration with Bernalillo County Fire Rescue, will take place at 9 a.m. at 3801 Broadway Blvd. SE.

The procession will feature a specially wrapped ambulance transporting the Tree of Life, a memorial bearing the names of those lost. A replica of the Tree of Life will be displayed in Albuquerque, offering the community a space for reflection and remembrance. The actual Tree of Life will remain sealed until its unveiling at the national service in Arlington.

“This moving tribute is only possible because of the shared commitment from agencies across the country and the generous support of organizations like Global Medical Response,” National EMS Memorial Service President Jana Williams said. “It is extraordinary witnessing so many who join alongside us to honor our fallen and to support their loved ones in such an impactful way.”

The National EMS Memorial Service, founded in 1991, is a volunteer-driven organization that honors fallen EMS providers and supports their families. The Moving Honors procession aims to raise awareness and provide an opportunity for the public to pay their respects.
