The ABQ BioPark will host “Blooming with Pride,” an adult night designed for sensory-sensitive or neurodivergent individuals. The event, open to adults 18 and older, will take place on June 13 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Botanic Garden.
“This event offers a low-stimulation environment where LGBTQIA+ people and allies can celebrate at their own pace while connecting with nature,” said BioPark Education Curator Bethany Dunn. “This is our first Pride event here at ABQ BioPark, and we’re glad to offer a calmer alternative to traditional Pride fun.”
Tickets are $40 each and include a complimentary cocktail or mocktail. Activities include a silent disco, plant-themed arts and crafts, live arthropod viewing, giant lawn games, a meet and greet with a local drag queen and resource booths. Food will be available for purchase, and tickets include fresh fruit and Dippin’ Dots. The event will also feature seating areas, soft lighting, and quiet zones.
“Events like ‘Blooming with Pride’ help ensure that everyone can enjoy the BioPark’s beauty and feel a sense of belonging,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “This is about creating spaces where people can connect, relax, and celebrate in ways that feel right for them.”
Tickets must be purchased online in advance. The BUGarium, Heritage Farm, and Japanese Garden will be closed during the event.
