After his address, Burgum will meet with the seven governors who will be in attendance to discuss policies. In addition to Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, those governors include Mike Dunleavy of Alaska, Jared Polis of Colorado, Kelly Armstrong of North Dakota, Spencer Cox of Utah, Mark Gordon of Wyoming and Arnold Palacios of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

Some of the other agenda items include a roundtable discussion on making outdoor recreation more accessible for people with disabilities and a roundtable discussion about recovery after wildfire. The agenda also includes discussion about supporting hospitals that serve rural and low-income communities.

Lujan Grisham is currently the chair of the WGA, but is expected to pass the baton to Cox during the annual meeting.

When he takes over as chair, Cox is expected to focus on energy challenges in the West, including expanding production, transmission, and storage options.
