Rock Canyon Cider, a favorite destination in the East Mountains for music lovers, foodies, and craft beverage enthusiasts, is preparing for a big move—this time into the heart of Tijeras village.
Currently located at 364 NM-333, the cidery and taproom will relocate to a more central location within the official limits of the village, a move expected to enhance both visibility and community engagement.
At its meeting on May 19, the Tijeras Village Council unanimously approved a waiver allowing Rock Canyon Cider to operate within 400 feet of a school.
The approval marks a major step forward in the company’s relocation plans.
Mayor Jake Bruton and Councilor Jonathan Ortiz both voiced strong support for the move, highlighting the business’s potential to generate gross receipts tax revenue — akin to sales tax — and breathe new life into the area.
“I think it’s a great business that the East Mountains and the village is in need of. And I think it’s great to bring community together,” said Ortiz.
Bruton echoed the sentiment, adding that Rock Canyon Cider will help “blossom that little area down there.”
The new location is expected to allow the business to grow while complying with local regulations.
With the approved waiver, the cidery will be able to serve alcohol near a school while ensuring community safety and adherence to all protocols.
Village leaders emphasized that the move balances economic development with community well-being.
Rock Canyon Cider is known for its warm, welcoming atmosphere and wide selection of beverages, including house-made ciders, local beers, wines and mixed drinks.
The venue also hosts regular live music and outdoor entertainment, making it a vibrant part of the East Mountains’ cultural scene.
