Bernalillo County is hosting a Community Conversation in Tijeras Thursday to discuss improvement projects in the East Mountains.

The public community meeting runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the A. Montoya Elementary School gymnasium, located at 24 Public School Road in Tijeras. The parking lot is accessible from the intersection of Public School Road and Highway 333/Old Route 66.

Hosted by Bernalillo County Commissioner Eric Olivas (D5) and the county’s Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department, the East Mountain Community Conversation will provide residents an opportunity to hear updates and ask questions about ongoing and upcoming projects in the East Mountains. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for sign-in, and light refreshments will be provided.

Planned topics for discussion include improvements to Sunflower Meadow Park, the Los Vecinos Community Center and Park, Tijeras Open Space, Sedillo Ridge Open Space, the Vista Grande Community Center and East Mountain Sports Complex, and the Whispering Pines Senior Meal Site.

This event offers East Mountain residents a key opportunity to share input and learn about infrastructure, open space, and community facility improvements in their neighborhoods.
