With the arrival of Memorial Day comes a slowdown in public services, as many agencies give their employees the day off, with some exceptions.

The City of Albuquerque will have all essential services operational, as well as some recreation and entertainment venues.

Monday is opening day for city-owned outdoor swimming pools, and indoor pools will remain open. Other open venues include ABQ BioPark, city golf courses and Sierra Vista Tennis Facility (Jerry Cline Tennis Facility is closed).

Metered parking throughout downtown, Old Town and Nob Hill will be free. ABQ RIDE bus and van service will be halted.

Other closures include the 311 Community Contact Center, Community and Child Development Centers and their programs, all libraries and their programs, all senior centers and senior meal sites, animal shelters and the Open Space Visitor Center.

Trash and recycling pickups will be made as scheduled.

Emergency services such as 911, non-emergency police calls, and Albuquerque Community Safety services are always available.

A complete listing of which city services are available and which are not is available here.

Bernalillo County offices, except for emergency services, will be closed.

State and federal government offices will be closed, along with public schools, the stock market and most banks.

The U.S. Postal Service will not have regular mail delivery; FedEX and UPS’ regular delivery services will be suspended.
