The Placitas Artists Series (PAS) will present Kim Fredenburgh and the Altura Ensemble on May 25, at 3 p.m. at Las Placitas Presbyterian Church. The ensemble, led by violist Kim Fredenburgh, includes New Mexico Philharmonic principal oboist Kevin Vigneau, pianist Judith Gordon, and cellist Felix Fan.
The program features a diverse selection of music including Robert Schumann’s Märchenbilder, Charles Martin Loeffler’s La Cornemuse, Caroline Shaw’s Limestone and Felt, David Dean Mendoza’s Garden Trio, Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Vocalise, Darius Milhaud’s Sonatina for Oboe and Piano, and Allegro molto from Quartet in F Major by Josef Rheinberger. The concert will also include a world premiere piano trio, “Variations on a Romance,” by PAS Composer in Residence, John Bullock.
Tickets are available at PlacitasArts.org. K-12 students accompanied by an adult ticket holder may attend for free. The concert is sponsored by Wendy Wilkins and Jay Rodman.
A concert talk about the program and a reception for visual artists will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at the church, located at 7 Paseo De San Antonio Rd. Artists Laverne Bohlin (oil on panels), Jeri Burzin (fine art photography), Katherine Irish (pastels), and Kurt Wuerker (copper and mixed media) will have their works on display. The art exhibit is open to the public Tuesday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., from April 18, 2025, through May 29, 2025. All artwork is available for purchase.
