Wild Hearts Gallery in Placitas will host “Minding the Web,” a multi-media exhibit featuring the work of artist Bunny Bowen. The exhibit runs from May 27 to June 29.

Bowen’s show centers around her piece “We Have Nets to Mend,” a wax resist on silk work. The exhibit explores the theme of interconnectedness, extending beyond silk to include acrylic, wood, and ceramic pieces. Known internationally for her silk work, Bowen has returned to her painting roots and also works in acrylic and ceramics. Her early interest in wood carving is reflected in the local juniper hangers used for her silk hangings and stoneware.

Bowen views creating art as “minding the web,” a way of repairing connections. “We Have Nets to Mend” was inspired by the idea of helping future generations, even if one can no longer actively participate in the same way. Bowen also drew inspiration from observing a spider and its web, prompting her to ponder the roles of predator and prey.

An artist reception will be held on Saturday, June 7, from 1-3 p.m. Bowen will also be present during the First Sunday ARTScrawl event on June 1, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Wild Hearts Gallery, an artists’ collective with 15 local artists, is located at 221-B State Highway 165. The gallery is open Tuesday–Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday–Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2: p.m. Virtual tours of monthly exhibits are available at wildheartsgallery.com.
