Torrance County Fire and Emergency Services has announced that Firefighter/EMT-Intermediate Nicaea Spomer is a finalist for the New Mexico 2025 Firefighter of the Year Award.

Spomer has served with Torrance County Fire and Emergency Services for two and a half years, demonstrating a strong commitment to the community, according to a press release from Torrance County. In addition to her firefighting duties, she provides critical medical care as an Emergency Medical Technician-Intermediate.

Spomer is recognized for her dedication to professional development, actively pursuing fire and EMS training to enhance her skills and benefit the residents of Torrance County.

Torrance County Fire and Emergency Services commended Spomer for her dedication, compassion, and excellence, and expressed pride in her representation of the department at the state level.

Torrance County Fire & EMS is looking for more people like Spomer and is currently accepting applications for various career opportunities, including firefighter, EMT and Paramedic positions. Potential candidates can apply online and should meet the minimum criteria, including a high school diploma, being at least 18 years old, and having a valid New Mexico driver’s license.
