City Desk ABQ Staff Report
The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office will conduct sobriety checkpoints and DWI-directed patrols in the county throughout the month of March.
Deputies will be looking for motorists who are under the influence of drugs or alcohol on county roadways. A BCSO news release says it’s part of an effort to reduce the number of impaired driving-related crashes and fatalities.
The BCSO DWI unit will be conducting saturation patrols as part of that strategy. The sheriff’s office is urging community members to avoid impaired driving, plan for safely getting home when using alcohol or drugs, and report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911.
