Staff report
The City of Rio Rancho has announced its annual outdoor watering restrictions, in effect from April 1 through October 31. To conserve water, spray irrigation is prohibited between 11:00 a.m. and 7 p.m. for all properties within city limits or served by the city’s water utility. Hand watering is permitted during these hours.
Water used for dust control, soil compaction, drip irrigation, low-emitting bubblers, and watering containerized plants are exceptions to the restrictions. Shutoff nozzles are required on all hoses used for hand watering or other outdoor purposes.
Residents are encouraged to report water waste violations to the City’s Water Conservation Office at (505) 896-8517 or via Report Rio Rancho at rrmn.gov/report. Violators will be subject to fees.
Water variances may be granted for irrigation system repairs, new landscaping establishment, and single-day irrigation for chemical applications. Questions about variances can be directed to the Environmental Programs Section at (505) 896-8737.
