The New Mexico Economic Development Department (EDD) and New Mexico MainStreet (NMMS) have selected the Town of Edgewood for its Frontier, Rural, & Native American Communities Project-Based Initiative. This initiative provides technical assistance for community economic development projects. The City of Aztec also had projects approved for the program.

According to a press release, Edgewood, which previously participated in the initiative in 2014, will receive support to create wayfinding signage and identity markers. These markers aim to direct travelers and locals to lodgings, restaurants, and services, which is expected to boost local businesses and increase the town’s GRT funding.

“I’m proud to support Aztec and Edgewood’s revitalization projects and these vital partnerships. I look forward to seeing the positive impact the projects will have on these communities,” NM MainStreet Director Daniel J. Gutierrez said.

In addition to the technical assistance, Edgewood will receive a $5,000 seed grant from the New Mexico Resiliency Alliance, NMMS’s non-profit funding partner, to aid in the project’s implementation.
