A homeowner shot and killed a man who broke down the front door and entered a house in Rio Rancho around midnight Saturday.
The Rio Rancho Police Department announced two adults and three children were sleeping in a house on 12th Street SW when the owner woke to the sounds of a home invasion.
“The suspect reportedly kicked the door multiple times before forcibly entering the home,” according to RRPD.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and the homeowner was released. The case will be forwarded to the District Attorney for review at the completion of the investigation.
