It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Mountainair and even the Grinch will be celebrating.

The town’s second annual Grinchmas event is set for Dec. 21 at the Dr. Saul Building following the Christmas parade, which begins at 5:30 p.m.

This year, the parade and Grinchmas will honor local author Ben Steinlage, who died in Sept.

“Last year’s celebration was a huge success, and this year, we are committed to making it even better,” Mountainair Mayor Peter Nieto said. “This special event will be held in honor of Ben Steinlage. Ben and his wife, Sandi, ran Mountainair’s cherished Christmas Land for many years, bringing holiday magic to our community. We are honored to continue that tradition in Ben’s memory.”

The Grinch will be joined by Santa Claus for photos with children. There will be food, fun and festivities as Mountainair boasts the Christmas spirit from 6-8 p.m.

“This year, we are welcoming everyone from not only Mountainair but all our neighboring mountain communities and cities to join us for an evening of holiday cheer and togetherness,” Nieto said. “Whether you’re a returning guest or a first-time attendee, we promise a magical night filled with laughter, joy, and holiday spirit.”
