For over a decade, the Tamaya Horse Rehabilitation Program has helped equines in need. Next month, the nonprofit organization located at the Stables at Tamaya on the Santa Ana Pueblo will host the 2024 Tamaya Horseshoes & Heels Gala.
The Tamaya Horse Rehabilitation Program charity event, set for 5 p.m. Nov. 30, will “bring awareness to the plight of unwanted horses in New Mexico and raise funds for its ongoing efforts to rescue and rehabilitate animals in need,” according to a press release.
Founded more than 10 years ago at Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa’s Stables, the Tamaya Horse Rehabilitation Program has helped and rescued more than 300 horses. Thousands of horses are abandoned annually in New Mexico and several factors can lead to unwanted, abandoned, or surrendered horses, including a horse’s decline in health or behavioral problems, and the owner’s financial or physical hardships.
“We are thrilled to announce the 2024 Tamaya Horseshoes & Heels Gala which will help us raise funds to rescue and rehabilitate surrendered and neglected horses,” said Connie Collis, director of the Stables at Tamaya. “The Tamaya Horse Rehabilitation Program is dedicated to giving them a second chance and providing horses with all the support and resources they need to lead happy, healthy lives.”
Money raised during the gala will be used for veterinary care, training, shelter and feed for the animals.
The gala will begin with a cocktail reception for socializing and a silent auction to bid on items ranging from hotel stays to artwork to jewelry. Guests will also have the opportunity to be photographed with some of the rescued horses visiting the gala. The resort’s culinary team will serve a three-course meal specially prepared for the event. It will be followed by a live auction, music and dancing, and a live performance by the Austin Van band.
Tickets for the Tamaya Horseshoes & Heels Gala are $125 per person and up to $900 for a table of eight. To purchase tickets visit TamayaHorseRehab.com/Events.
