Bernalillo County’s newly established Behavioral Health Advisory Board, created by the passage of the Behavioral Health Ordinance in June, will conduct its first meeting at 6:30 p.m. today.

The meeting will serve as an opportunity to introduce the board members, review the purpose and goals of the Behavioral Health Authority and discuss new business, including the election of officers and strategic planning initiatives.  

Dr. Wayne Lindstrom, deputy county manager for behavioral health, said the board will be instrumental in shaping the future of behavioral health services in Bernalillo County.

 Members of the Behavioral Health Advisory Board:

  • Annabelle Martinez, behavioral health services representative.
  • Andrew Estocin, housing service representative.
  • Holly Mell, disability rights representative.
  • Joseph Tomas Shaw, peer support worker representative.
  • Charlie Verploegh, City of Albuquerque representative.
  • Rodney McNease, hospital/health system representative.
  • Walter Adams, public safety representative.
  • Terry Schleder, community health worker representative.
  • Alex Ross-Reed, LGBTQ+ representative.
  • Maria Fernanda Ferrer Hernandez, behavioral health services representative.

The meeting is in the Chambers Conference Room at Alvarado Square, 415 Silver Ave SW.
