A Halloween tradition is once again returning to Moriarty this month.

RV Sales New Mexico is hosting its Trick or Treat Trailer to Trailer event on Halloween for the 31st consecutive year. The event will again be held at 2109 W. Route 66 in Moriarty. The festivities will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

The annual event provides a safe and fun place for trick-or-treaters in a “hauntingly fun decorated RV neighborhood” and a haunted house.

Attendees are encouraged to bring one nonperishable food item per person for entry to help the Bethel House Food Pantry. Admission to the haunted house is $2 per person, with all proceeds going to the Moriarty Rotary Scholarships.

According to a press release from RV Sales, the Moriarty business has hosted the Halloween event since 1993, providing “a fun and safe place for kids to trick-or-treat with the support of community sponsors and volunteers.”

Attendees can enjoy Halloween decorations and lights, show off their costumes, and walk from trailer to trailer to collect treats.

“This is the largest and longest-running Halloween event in the area,” RV Sales New Mexico President Valerie Chowning said. “We’re proud to offer this fun alternative for kids who live in rural areas and neighborhoods where trick-or-treating could be cumbersome due to the distance between homes and their safety compromised. We’ll create a neighborhood with the RVs in our lot which are staffed by volunteers who pass out candy.”

Attendance has exceeded more than 1,500 in past years and organizers are expecting even more this year, according to the release.

“Of course, this tradition and an event of this size wouldn’t be the success that it has become without the generosity of the local businesses, civic organizations, and volunteers that help with costs for the treats and lend a hand in all the activities that go along with the fun,” Jeanette Ridenour, RV Sales director of marketing, said.
