Cannabis appears to be on track to have another multi-million-dollar year in communities east of Albuquerque.

According to data from the Cannabis Control Division, dispensaries serving the East Mountains, Edgewood and Estancia Valley sold more than $2.8 million worth of medical and adult-use cannabis over the first six months of 2024.

New Mexico’s total cannabis sales have topped $1.2 billion since sales began in April 2022.

Here’s how sales break out for each community served by The Independent:

Edgewood

The four dispensaries in Edgewood sold $2,050,445 in cannabis — or an average of about $340,000 in sales each month. That’s up 16.5% from the first six months of 2023.

But at least in Edgewood, not all dispensaries are sharing in the boom equally. State sales data shows that in June 2024, the Pecos Valley dispensary, on Route 66 near the I-40 and NM 344 intersection, made $229,295, or 70% of the total sales in Edgewood that month. Dispensaries making up the remainder were Ultra Health at $31,449, Roadrunner at $69,101 and J.J’s Secret Garden at $1,279.

Since legal sales began in 2022, Edgewood-based dispensaries have been visited more than 163,600 times, according to state data. Total sales equal more than $5.5 million to date.

Torrance County

Combined, all Torrance County dispensaries sold $601,690 in cannabis in the first six months of 2024. In Moriarty, Stone Central Cannabis and Budder Pros sold a combined $477,881, down from $688,719 over the same period in 2023. In Estancia, May Flower reported $123,809 in the first six months of 2024 and $123,552 in the same period in 2023.

East Mountains

Cedar Crest and Tijeras are the only East Mountain communities where dispensaries have been licensed in Bernalillo County.

Customers purchased $227,110 worth of products in the first six months of 2024, down from $329,971 over the same period in 2023. That appears to be, in part, because Tijeras’ only dispensary, LDM New Mexico, only reported sales for three months in the first half of last year and no sales in 2024. Seven Point Farms in Cedar Crest was the only active dispensary in the East Mountains, according to CCD June sales data.
