Update: The emergency lines were back up and running early Thursday morning.

The Albuquerque Police Department’s emergency and non-emergency lines went down Tuesday afternoon.

A spokesperson said in a news release that a fiber optic line cut by construction crews was to blame for the service interruption. With both the 242-COPS and 911 lines down, calls were rerouted to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office and then forwarded to APD as of late Tuesday afternoon.

While 242-COPS is out of service, residents can still report non-emergency incidents using the APD app.
