The Rt. 66 Arts Alliance continues its summer tradition of community art displays, encouraging youth and adult emerging artists to showcase their talents.

This summer’s exhibit is on display at the East Mt. Library in Tijeras through August. 31.

The exhibition includes art by Mad Joe Channey with hand-turned wood sculptures. Laura Hansen exhibits very small and very large landscape paintings while Laurie Lazauski has a hand quilted sunflower quilt on display. Martin Matlock, a street photographer, captures people, landscapes and train scapes on film while Sandra Holzman’s work features monotype on paper with woodcut and solar plate matrix. Lisa Bryant brings mixed media collage to the show and Gerry Beard’s work is paintings of personal stories.

The Route 66 Arts Alliance is a nonprofit organization that works to increase interest in the arts in the East Mountains and provides classes to children with Saturday and summer art camps.

The library’s hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
