The United States Postal Service announced Sarah Earnest as the new Moriarty Postmaster.

Earnest began her postal career in nearby Estancia as a part-time clerk in 2018.  Since then, she served as an acting supervisor in Santa Fe and as the Officer in Charge (OIC) in Cuba, Estancia and Placitas post offices. While in Placitas, she was selected as postmaster for the Cuba Post Office. In March of this year, she returned to Moriarity and applied for the position of Postmaster, for which she was selected.

Ernest says she is proud to provide the Moriarty community with excellent postal services. “I have always liked Moriarty; it reminds me of home (in Mora). I enjoy smaller communities and enjoy helping the community,” she said. “I know how important mail and packages are to our residents and my team and I are committed to maintaining that trust.”

The Moriarty Post Office has served the town since 1903, when the first office was established.

Earnest manages 4 clerks and 3 carriers. The team serves the area with 3 highway contract routes and 3,800 P.O. Boxes. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.; and closed Sunday.
