As calls for President Joe Biden to drop out of the race increase and the 2024 Democratic National Convention is right around the corner, all eyes are on the state’s Democratic delegates. There are 46 delegates and two alternates.
Here’s who they are and how they were picked:
Automatic Delegates
According to the state party’s 2024 Delegate Selection Plan, automatic delegates are, “all of New Mexico’s Democratic Members of the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate,” as well as the governor — assuming the governor is a Democrat — and “members of the Democratic National Committee who legally reside in New Mexico.” The party’s selection plan also includes “all former Chairs of the Democratic National Committee.”
