March 7, 1948 – June 30, 2024
Born in Alva, Oklahoma, to Janney Bee and Keith Hines, Steve was a devoted father, loving
husband, animal lover, entrepreneur and inventor.
In 1950, the family moved to Canyon, Texas, where Steve was raised and went on to college
earning a B.S. in Industrial Arts from WTSU (1979) as a devoted Kappa Alpha Order fraternity member. After college, he operated several small businesses and served on the Canyon City Commission.
In 1991, Steve moved to New Mexico. Where in 1998 he invented the ERGO Grip and began
his legacy of the company ERGO.
Steve married his wife, Barbara in 1986 and she remained his devoted wife and companion until her passing in 2020. Steve is survived by his children – Brett Hines (wife Wendy), Mira O’Connell, and Amanda Hines. Steve was also devoted to Barbara’s daughters, Vickie and Amanda along with his 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
A service officiated by Rev. Michael Coburn will be at the Holy Cross Church, 367 in Edgewood on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 1 p.m., reception to follow.
Stephen Charles Hines will be remembered for his kind spirit, his love for his family, his sense of humor, and generosity. He will be deeply missed.
