A man from Jemez Springs was arrested by the Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD) June 17 and charged with criminal sexual penetration of a minor, as well as 10 counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Matthew Levi Trujillo, 25, was arrested after his girlfriend allegedly discovered text messages from a 16-year-old girl from Los Alamos. Police say he was having a sexual relationship with her and giving her crack cocaine and alcohol, according to court records.
An arrest affidavit states that LAPD Detective Sgt. Ryan Wolking was tipped off about the crime through an email sent to him by Trujillo’s girlfriend. She reportedly sent the detective screenshots of texts between Trujillo and the minor, as well as a recording.
The teen was interviewed by police, who say she told them she met Trujillo when she was 15 and their sexual relationship began May 11, adding that Trujillo had supplied her with crack cocaine and alcohol around 17 times, according to court documents.
Trujillo made his first appearance in the Los Alamos County Magistrate Court before Judge Catherine Taylor on June 18.
Trujillo’s next hearing is July 15. He is charged with 10 counts of criminal sexual penetration in the second degree of a child 13-18 years old and 10 counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
