Want to weigh in on how the city should budget its money? The public is invited to share its thoughts with Albuquerque city councilors at a committee meeting Thursday.
The Committee of the Whole (COW) will meet May 9 to hear resident input on the mayor’s proposed budget for fiscal year 2025.

This meeting will focus on physical goals. These are appropriations to city departments such as:
- $16.9 million total for animal welfare.
- $64.5 for transit.
- $4.9 million for environmental health.
- $36.5 million for municipal development.
- $37.4 million for city support services.
- $22.2 million for the planning department.
This is the last chance for the public to weigh in on the budget process. The final budget will be heard at the May 20 regular City Council meeting.
At COW meetings, all nine council members act as a committee to consider the budget and the capital improvement program. The committee also meets with the mayor and department heads to review and make recommendations about the priority, ranking and implementation of policy priorities in the budget.
