Planning for the annual Woofstock pet expo and adoption event is already underway.

The Friends of Estancia Valley Animals are working with the Town of Edgewood on the 13th Annual Woofstock Festival. Woofstock is a long-standing Edgewood tradition and one of the largest pet adoption events in the state.

The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 21 at Venus Park. The event will have 15-20 animal rescue groups who will bring dogs and cats for on-the-spot adoptions. There will be live music throughout the day and food trucks.

Woofstock events take place all over the U.S., but volunteers started the event in Edgewood to promote pet adoption in the East Mountains. Vendors come from all over the state with pet supplies.

FEVA works with several Edgewood veterinarians who will be on-site at Woofstock to provide expert animal advice. The event is free, but there is a fee for shots and microchipping.

The organization was recently honored as 2024 Nonprofit of the Year by Albuquerque Business First at its annual Philanthropy Summit.

Festival organizers say they are always in need of volunteers, and planning meetings are scheduled for the end of April in Edgewood.

Vendor applications are now open. To apply to be a vendor or to volunteer, visit fevanimals1.org or call 505-252-0151.
