A new antique show, the Roots 66 Rendezvous and Extravaganza, will be held at the Moriarty Civic Center at 202 S, 202 Broadway in Moriarty on Saturday, March 30 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The event will showcase antiques, bottles, insulators, jewelry, rocks, marbles, woodcarvings, tools, breweriana, railroad items and toys. Vendors and attendees will come from across the state, Texas, Colorado, Arizona, California, Oregon, Alabama, Missouri, Utah, Louisiana, Wyoming and Montana.

The National Insulators Association and New Mexico Historical Bottle Society are sponsoring the event and it is open to the public with free admission and appraisals. Duane Davenport, coordinator for the antique show, has been the NMHBS’s president for two years and has been a member of the NIA for 36 years.

“The reason I call it a rendezvous and extravaganza is the fact that it is not just bottles and insulators, there will be displays of jewelry and woodcarvings and more,” Davenport said. “It is meant to be a diverse show for different antiques and to bring people from all over together who are interested in what their antiques are worth or what other antiques are worth.”

Davenport hopes to bring in more guests from across New Mexico and other states. Vendors are invited for a pre-show set up from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 29, or before the show from 7 to 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 30. Davenport said if this event is successful, he hopes to turn it into an annual event.
