A notorious East Central convenience store was the scene of another homicide Wednesday night. “Tonight’s fatal shooting is the 7th homicide investigation in the last 4 years at the Adam Food Market at Central and Penn,” APD Chief Harold Medina wrote on X, formerly Twitter, overnight. “And less than three weeks ago a convicted felon shot one of our officers in this same parking lot,” he added.

Police provided few details on scene other than that a woman had been shot to death in the parking lot.

In 2023, Mayor Tim Keller announced that the city had spent more than $100,000 in police and first responder costs responding to calls at this location. The city filed a lawsuit to require the owner to better manage or sell the property.

In September, District Court Judge Josh Allison dismissed the city’s complaint citing constitutional errors in the city’s filings. The city has not refiled any case in court.
