Approximately 575 people visited the six gardens on tour Sept. 10 at the 7th annual
Placitas Garden Tour, making it possible for the tour’s nonprofit organizer to donate
$4,000 to two local nonprofits.

Each year a portion of the ticketing proceeds are donated to participating volunteer
organizations.

A $1,500 check was presented to Sandoval Extension Master Gardeners, to support
their garden education and outreach programs. Another $2,500 was donated to the
Placitas Community Library, to support its community education and landscaping
projects. Both organizations were instrumental in making the tour a resounding success.
More than 80 volunteers and sponsors made this event possible, including Master
Gardeners and others who were on hand to answer questions and guide guests through
gardens that were chosen to represent what’s possible in our challenging high desert
environment.

The Placitas Garden Tour is a charitable nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. It is
dedicated to producing annual ticketed public tours of exceptional gardens in the
Placitas community.

The next tour is scheduled for Sept. 11, 2024. More info on the tour is at
